We braved a hot sun and gusty breeze setting up last Thursday for Art in Clay at Hatfield House. The event ran from Friday through to Sunday evening. The “Throw a Pot” Marquee was manned by five of us, Ruby Sharp (leader), Eddie Kent, Steve Ellis, Lutz Krainhoefner and myself. They are talented potters and all had a wonderful variety of ceramic art on show. We worked hard but had time for some fun, perhaps most memorable was Eddie in the role of a five year old so that Ruby could demonstrate her technique to us! I am not sure what I expected, but we worked pretty solidly throughout the three days, giving the eager public a chance to try their hand at throwing. All ages came, from little ones on their parent’s knee to those that needed help on and off the seat. Ability also varied… a memorable experience for me was a young chap who was blind but keen to learn how to throw.
